BERTEL GARDBERG (1916 – 2007)
A Finnish silversmith, Bertel Gardberg worked in Copenhagen before setting up his own practice in Helsinki. He was a noted designer of cutlery (including Carelia for Hackman) as well as jewelry, (including several pieces for Georg Jensen). He has worked for Galerie Lafayette in Paris, and the Kilkenny Design Workshops in Ireland. In 1961, he won received the Lunning Prize as well as the Pro Finlandia Medal. He also won Milan’s triennial in 1957.
